Abandoned worker

Fourkoni

This is a strange, unique kind of vehicle seen in Greece after World War II.

It was constructed on top of a motorcycle, mostly BMWs or Zundapps, left behind from German troops.

They were called “Fourkoni” and they were used for transportation of goods. Quite a lot of them have been used all around Greece during the post war period and were being used until the early ‘80s.

Now it is quite rare to see a Fourkoni, and if you do it would be abandoned.

However, as they were built in Greece, they are a piece of modern Greek history.

Picture was taken at Tinos island in August 2011.
