I love taking pictures of birds. I love also to travel to places that I can see wild birds and spend time to take pictures of them. It needs a lot of patience but it is rewarding.
Herons are very shy and do not enjoy human presence in their territory. On the other hand gray herons (Ardea cinerea), as the one in the picture, are very pretty and fairly large birds. Not so rare to see but still pretty.
To take this picture I had to hide and move very quietly so that I can get this image using the branches of the trees as a frame.
