My visit to the deserted village of Levissi in Turkey (see previous post) was quite memorable. Wandering around the empty gravel roads of this small city, created a strange feeling.
Some years –not so many- ago, those houses and those streets were full of people living their everyday lives. Just as most of us do right now…
Then the war and the International Treaties came, and the people left…
And then homes were left alone…
The fireplace, brings to mind –mine at least- the image of the family around it trying to get warmed, maybe with a table ready for the dinner to be served…
Or maybe with grandmother telling stories to the children…
And now…?
The fireplaces left and partly destroyed made me think about the lifes of people that were destroyed…
Sad.
